Old Castle (Matthias House)

A Renaissance building from 1479, erected during the reign of King Matthias Corvinus, situated within the historic complex on the main city square. Today it forms part of the Central Slovak Museum and showcases the rich mining tradition of the region, for which Banská Bystrica was known for centuries. The permanent exhibition features artifacts, documents, and stories related to the extraction of silver and copper that shaped the development of the city.
