A monumental 16th-century mosque, a masterpiece by the renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, built at the order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Situated on one of Istanbul's seven hills, it offers a spectacular view of the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus. The complex includes the mosque, a madrasa, a library, and the mausoleums of Sultan Suleiman and Hürrem Sultan.
Entry is free, but it is mandatory to remove footwear and cover your head and shoulders. During prayer times the mosque is closed to tourists.
