Sanctuary of Our Lady of Trsat

The Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat consists of a church and a Franciscan monastery on Trsat, above the center of Rijeka. Its history is tied to the end of the 13th century and the tradition according to which the house of the Holy Family from Nazareth was temporarily located at this site before being transferred to Loreto. For centuries the shrine has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites on the Croatian Adriatic, and the complex encompasses a church, a monastery, and a cloister.
