Tunnel of Hope

Type: museum

During the siege of Sarajevo in 1993, residents manually dug 800 meters of tunnel beneath the airport runway — the only physical connection to parts of Bosnia outside the siege ring. Today, 25 meters are preserved with a museum exhibition in the Kolar family house. The entrance ticket costs 5 euros, and it is one of the rare war memorial sites that does not overdo the dramaturgical approach.

Tickets can also be purchased on-site.

The ticket includes a tour of the original section of the tunnel and the museum exhibition. Arriving before noon is recommended to avoid larger crowds.

⛰️ Heads up: Hilly approach — the uphill section may add about 25 percent to the walking time to the attraction.
