A 17th-century Venetian fortress stands at the entrance to the old harbor. Today it houses the Maritime Museum of Crete, with collections dedicated to seafaring and the history of the island. From the fortress there is a view of the harbor and the lighthouse.
The ticket includes entry to the Maritime Museum located inside the fortress. Open daily except on certain public holidays.
