Forte Mare Fortress

Forte Mare is a coastal fortress built directly above the shoreline and one of the most recognizable historical landmarks of Herceg Novi. Its oldest parts are linked to the founding of the city in the 14th century, while later rulers expanded and adapted it to their defensive needs. From the fortress there is an open view of the sea, the city waterfront, and the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, making a visit a combination of the city's history and one of its most beautiful panoramas.
