A 13th-century Frankish fortress built on a steep rock about 15 km northeast of Gythio, overlooking the Laconian plain and gulf. The walls are partially preserved, and access is via a path through olive groves taking about 20 minutes.
Free admission. Own transportation required. The trail can be slippery after rain — footwear with grip soles is recommended.
