Passava Castle

The remains of a 13th-century Frankish fortress are situated on a hill northeast of Gythio, overlooking the Laconian plain and the coastline of the southern Peloponnese. The fortification was built during the period of Frankish rule following the Fourth Crusade and played an important defensive role in the Mani region for centuries. Today, sections of the walls and towers are preserved, while the site is reached via a short walking path through olive groves and rural landscape. In addition to its historical significance, the fortress is also known for its panoramic views of the surrounding area.
