Vaporia is the historic quarter of Ermoupoli, built in the 19th century as the residential area of wealthy shipowning and merchant families. Neoclassical palaces were erected right above the sea, and narrow streets lead to terraces and viewpoints overlooking the Aegean Sea. Today, Vaporia is one of the most recognizable places on Syros and a beloved spot for walks, photography, and sunsets.
