Parish Church of Saint Maurice

Parish Church of Saint Maurice

The Parish Church of Saint Maurice (Pfarrkirche St. Mauritius) on Kirchplatz is first mentioned in historical records in 1285. The current building was constructed to plans by architect Adolf Gaudy of Rorschach, following a decision by the local assembly on 13 November 1910, and was consecrated on 6 June 1916. The ceiling of the main nave, featuring a painting of 'Noah's Ark', was painted in 1980 by Paolo Parente from Florence. On account of its altar and baptismal font, the church is listed in the Swiss inventory of cultural property of regional significance, and admission is free.
