One of the largest and best-preserved medieval fortresses in Europe, built in 1077 on Festungsberg hill. It dominates the panorama of Salzburg and offers a spectacular view of the city and the surrounding Alps. Within the fortress are museums, princely chambers, and old military equipment.
The ticket includes the cable car ride (Festungsbahn), access to the fortress and museums. Online purchase in advance is recommended, especially during the summer period. The cable car departs every 10 minutes.
