An imposing Baroque cathedral dedicated to Saint Rupert, built between 1614 and 1628 on the foundations of an older Romanesque structure. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized here, and the baptismal font used for the ceremony is still preserved in the church. The facade with three marble portals is considered one of the finest Baroque fronts north of the Alps.
Entrance to the cathedral is free, but access to the crypt and cathedral museum is charged (around 3 EUR). It is open daily, except during religious services. The rich interior includes frescoes and an organ played by the young Mozart.
