A unique ossuary adjoining the Roman Catholic Church of St. Michael, housing over 1,200 ornately painted skulls of deceased local residents from the 17th century onwards. Due to the limited size of the cemetery, skulls were decorated with names and floral motifs and kept for preservation.
A symbolic ticket of around 2 euros. The charnel house is located right next to the Church of St. Michael in the center of Hallstatt and can be combined with a visit to the church.
