Fira, the capital of Santorini, is perched on the edge of a volcanic caldera at an altitude of 260 meters, offering some of the most dramatic views of the volcanic islands and the deep blue Aegean Sea. Paths along the caldera rim lead to small chapels and terraced cafés. Particularly impressive at dusk and at night when the town is illuminated.
