The only Hellenistic theatre in North Macedonia, built in the 3rd century BC when the city was known as Lychnidos. The theatre is partly carved into the hillside beneath Samuil's Fortress and can accommodate several thousand spectators. It is still used today for the Ohrid Summer festival and other cultural events.
Admission is free outside the festival season; during the Ohrid Summer (July–August), tickets are charged for performances. The theatre can also be partially viewed from the street for free. Combine your visit with the fortress, which is in the immediate vicinity.
