One of the largest and most visited museums in the world, founded in 1753. It holds over 8 million objects spanning the entire history of the world, including the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles. Admission is free, and the collections cover the period from prehistory to the modern era.
Entry to the permanent collection is free. Temporary exhibitions are ticketed separately. Arriving right at opening time (10am) is recommended to avoid morning crowds from group visits.
