Everything you need for Lefkada in one place
The distinctive houses with metal facades and wooden upper floors make Lefkada instantly recognizable — this style emerged as a response to frequent earthquakes. The canal separating the island from the mainland is crossed by a drawbridge, and a walk along it offers a lovely view of the Venetian fortress of Santa Maura.
A 14th-century Venetian fortress located on a peninsula at the entrance to the canal, it is one of the better-preserved fortresses on the Ionian Islands. The walls enclose a true village within the ramparts — churches, water cisterns, and old military barracks. Access is via a pedestrian bridge from the mainland side.
Rachi Hill above the village of Exanthia offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the western coast of Lefkada and the Ionian Sea. The road to the top passes through olive groves and greenery, and the viewpoint itself is equipped with benches and a cafe that is especially popular at sunset.
