Preveza is a coastal city in northwestern Greece, located at the entrance to the Ambracian Gulf, not far from the Ionian Sea coast. The old city center is recognizable for its narrow streets, traditional houses, tavernas, and a waterfront promenade along the harbor. The wider Preveza area is strongly connected to ancient history: nearby lie Actium, the site of the famous naval battle of 31 BC, and Nicopolis, the city founded by Octavian Augustus after his victory in that battle.

Everything you need for Preveza in one place
Odysseas Androutsos Square is located in the central part of Preveza and serves as a good starting point for a walk through the old town center. The surrounding streets are lined with traditional houses, small shops, cafes and taverns, while the waterfront and harbor are just a short walk away toward the shore. This part of the city best captures the everyday rhythm of Preveza and connects easily with the Venetian Tower, the Church of Saint Haralambos, and the seaside promenade.
The Agios Andreas Fortress, also known as the Botsalis Fortress, is part of the historical fortification system of Preveza. It is located in the urban area and testifies to the strategic importance of Preveza at the entrance to the Ambracian Gulf. Today it represents an interesting historical landmark for visitors who wish to explore the military heritage of the city and its connection to the turbulent past of this part of Epirus.
The museum preserves finds from ancient Nicopolis and surrounding sites, including statues, mosaics, inscriptions, and coins from the Roman period. The exhibition provides an overview of the region's history from antiquity to the early Christian era.
