Syracuse

Syracuse is one of the oldest cities in the Mediterranean, founded by Greek colonists in the 8th century BCE. In antiquity it was one of the most powerful Greek colonies, and today a visit naturally divides between the Archaeological Park of Neapolis and the historic island of Ortigia. A Greek theatre, temples, Baroque squares, and a coastline right along the sea make Syracuse one of the most important historic cities in Sicily.
