Žuta tabija offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Sarajevo. It is located on Vratnik hill, part of the remains of 18th-century Austro-Hungarian fortifications. It is especially popular during sunset when the city slowly transforms into a sea of lights beneath the old fortress walls. During Ramadan, a cannon is fired from Žuta tabija to mark iftar (the breaking of the fast) — one of the most authentic Sarajevo traditions that has continued for centuries. From the terrace, the entire city is visible — from Baščaršija to the modern quarters, with mountains in the background. Accessible on foot from Baščaršija (approximately 20 minutes uphill).
Entrance is free, the fortress is open to visitors throughout the day. It offers an excellent panoramic view of Sarajevo, and a visit in the evening hours is recommended.
