A Byzantine monastery from the 13th century situated on a small island in the Narta Lagoon, connected to the mainland by a long wooden bridge (approximately 300 meters). The Church of Saint Mary within the monastery features characteristic domes covered with red roof tiles and 14th-century frescoes that are partially preserved. Surrounded by a pine forest and a shallow freshwater lagoon (one of the largest in Albania, home to flamingos and other wetland birds), it offers a completely different experience from the urban coastline of Vlora — more reminiscent of Galičnik or the islands of Montenegro than a tourist riviera. One of the most peaceful places in the region, particularly popular among local couples and photography enthusiasts. Entrance is free, open during daytime hours.
The monastery is free to visit and accessible during the day. It is located on a small island in the Narta Lagoon, reachable by bridge or boat.
