Basilica of the Holy Blood
Bruges, Belgium

Basilica of the Holy Blood

Type: church / relic

A 12th-century double church on Burg Square, housing one of the most famous Christian relics — a cloth believed to contain the blood of Jesus Christ. The lower Romanesque chapel of St. Basil contrasts with the more richly decorated Gothic upper chapel. Every year during the Procession of the Holy Blood (May), the relic is carried through the city.

Tickets

Entry: Free

Entry to the basilica is free, but there is a small fee for the reliquary treasury (around 2.5 EUR). The church has limited opening hours, so it is recommended to check the schedule in advance.
