A peaceful 13th-century monastery complex, home to a community of beguines — lay religious women. Surrounded by canals and tall trees, it is today inhabited by Benedictine nuns. It is protected by UNESCO as part of the Flemish Béguinages and ranks among the most romantic corners of Bruges.
Entry to the complex is free, but the small museum house inside the Begijnhof charges a nominal ticket (around 2 EUR). Passing through the gate implies silence and respect for the place.
