Malaga is the capital of the district of the same name on the Costa del Sol coast and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe. Its history spans Phoenician, Roman, Moorish and Christian periods, which can be seen today in landmarks such as the Alcazaba fortress and Gibralfaro castle. As the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, Malaga is an important cultural center of Andalusia, with numerous museums, while its promenades, city beaches and harbor give the city a distinctly Mediterranean character.

An impressive 11th-century Moorish fortress situated on a hill above the center of Malaga, one of the best-preserved Islamic fortifications in Spain. Built during the Muslim rule of Andalusia, it is connected to Gibralfaro Castle by a system of ramparts that rise above the city. Within the fortress there are gardens, courtyards, fountains, and the remains of a former palace, while from the walls there is a spectacular view of the port, the Mediterranean, and the old core of Malaga.
A 14th-century Moorish fortress situated on a hill above Málaga, connected to the Alcazaba by a defensive wall known as La Coracha. It was built during the Nasrid dynasty to protect the city and its port, while its name derives from a lighthouse that once stood on this site. From its walls, visitors enjoy views of Málaga, the port, the Mediterranean Sea, and the surrounding hills, and within the complex there is also a small museum dedicated to the history of the fortress.
A monumental Renaissance cathedral whose construction began in the 16th century on the site of a former mosque. It is known by the nickname 'La Manquita' ('the one-armed lady') because its southern tower was never completed. Due to a construction period that lasted nearly two centuries, the architecture blends Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic elements. Particular attention is drawn to the richly decorated interior and the impressive 18th-century wooden choir, which is considered one of the finest in Spain.
