Everything you need for Civita di Bagnoregio in one place
An Etruscan-medieval town perched on an isolated tufa ridge, known as 'the dying city' due to soil erosion. It is accessible only via a pedestrian bridge approximately 300 meters long. Founded over 2,500 years ago, it today has only a handful of permanent residents and stands as one of the most extraordinary historic destinations in Italy.
A viewpoint offering the most famous view of Civita di Bagnoregio, perched on a narrow tufa ridge above the valley. This is precisely where the photographs most commonly found on postcards and social media are taken. It is especially attractive in the early morning and at sunset, when mist and light further emphasize the dramatic position of the town.
A Romanesque church from the 11th–12th century that dominates the central square of Civita di Bagnoregio. The interior preserves fragments of religious frescoes and Etruscan sarcophagi that bear witness to the long, continuous habitation of this place. An active parish church and spiritual center of the small remaining population.
About 40 km south of Civita lies one of the most unusual Renaissance gardens in Italy — Sacro Bosco in Bomarzo, also known as the 'Garden of Monsters'.
