The route leads from vibrant Naples to the spectacular Amalfi Coast, one of the most beautiful scenic roads in Europe. Traveling by car gives you the freedom to stop at viewpoints, beaches, and smaller coastal towns, although driving the winding SS163 road requires patience, especially during the summer months. Over five days you will visit Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello — towns that combine Mediterranean charm, history, and spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The route is most enjoyable from April to June and from September to October, when temperatures are more pleasant and crowds are smaller.

The journey begins in a city that leaves no one indifferent. A UNESCO-protected historic core, narrow streets with laundry hanging above the passageways, authentic pizzerias, and a view of Vesuvius make Naples one of the most special cities in Italy. It is best to leave the car in a garage and explore the center on foot, as traffic and parking in the old town are very demanding.

Stroll through the historic center, make your way down to the Marina Grande harbor, and enjoy the scent of lemon groves that give rise to the famous limoncello. From here begins one of the most beautiful scenic drives in Italy.

The best way to spend the day is strolling along narrow stairways, between small boutiques, terraces, and viewpoints, with a break for a swim or a seaside lunch. The drive along route SS163 is one of the most beautiful in Italy, but the many bends and heavy traffic require patience.

Once one of the most powerful maritime republics of the Mediterranean, Amalfi is today a picturesque small town whose heart is formed by the Cathedral of Saint Andrew with its impressive staircase. Hidden along its narrow streets are workshops and the Museum of Paper, which preserves a centuries-long tradition of handmade paper production. It is best explored at a leisurely pace, between the main square and the harbor.

Thanks to its tranquil atmosphere and rich cultural tradition, Ravello has for centuries been a source of inspiration for artists, composers, and writers.
