A seven-day journey through the northern Croatian islands, from Krk and Cres, via the fragrant Lošinj, to Rab and the bare, stony Pag. The route connects the islands by ferry and car, linking old towns shaped by Venetian influence, captains' houses, forest parks, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the Kvarner Gulf. Enough time for each island, without rushing — ideal from spring through autumn.

The journey begins on Krk, Croatia's largest island. On the first day you explore the old town enclosed by walls, with its cathedral and Frankopan Castle right by the harbor, while the afternoon is left free for swimming at one of the town's beaches. A gentle introduction to the rhythm of island travel, with dinner on the waterfront promenade.

A ferry takes you to Cres, a wild and green island. The town of Cres preserves a Venetian harbor and narrow stone alleyways, while the interior hides Valun with its Glagolitic tablet and Lubenice perched on a cliff high above the sea. Above it all, griffon vultures circle — the island's trademark. Spend the evening over fresh fish in the town harbor.

The ticket for the walking trail and educational center is purchased in Belo. The visiting season for the center is April–October. The trail is approximately 4 km long and takes 1.5–2 hours.

Driving south brings you to Mali Lošinj, an island of vitality and lush vegetation. Colorful captains' houses surround one of the most beautiful natural harbors on the Adriatic, and the museum houses the ancient bronze statue of the Apoxyomenos, recovered from the sea. Stroll along the harbor promenade and breathe in the scent of pine trees for which the island is renowned.
Ticket includes the permanent exhibition with the statue and multimedia content. It is advisable to purchase in advance during the season as capacity is limited.

The second day on Lošinj is dedicated to the sea and nature. The bay of Čikat, with its pine forest and well-maintained beaches, invites you to swim, while the picturesque Veli Lošinj with its church and tower reveals the quieter side of the island. A permanent community of bottlenose dolphins lives in the waters around Lošinj, making this island a center for their protection.
The ferry takes you to Rab, whose old town is recognized by four stone bell towers lined along the peninsula. Stroll through medieval streets and city walls, rest in the Komrčar forest park near the sea, and end the day at one of the pebble beaches along the indented coastline. Rab is also known as one of the greenest islands in Kvarner.
Entry to the top of the Cathedral bell tower costs around 3 EUR. The other bell towers can be viewed from the outside free of charge. The view from the top encompasses the rooftops of the old town and the surrounding islands.

A small symbolic entrance fee to the cathedral is around 2 EUR. Tourist visits are not recommended during the morning mass (around 8am). The relics of St. Christopher are on display in the side chapel.

The final leg takes you to Pag, an island of bare stone and three pillars of tradition — lace, salt and cheese. In the carefully planned town, visit the Kneževa palata and the Museum of Pag Lace, while just outside town the white basins of the salt flats bear witness to a craft centuries old. The remains of medieval Stari Pag with the Church of St. Mary reveal the island's roots.
The ticket includes access to the permanent exhibition. Lacemakers are sometimes present demonstrating the technique live — it is worth checking the opening hours before visiting.

The last day is for the sea and the scenery that makes Pag so recognizable. Take a swim at one of the town beaches or head north to the lively Novalja, stopping along the way at viewpoints overlooking the bare karst landscape that resembles the surface of the moon. With Pag cheese and lamb, the journey through the northern Croatian islands comes to its end.
