A six-day journey through the eastern and southern Peloponnese, connecting historic cities, medieval fortresses, fishing ports, and famous beaches. The route leads from Nafplio through Monemvasia and Gytheio to the island of Elafonisos, combining cultural sites, coastal landscapes, and a relaxed Greek atmosphere. It is designed for travelers who wish to explore the Peloponnese by car, with plenty of time for sightseeing, swimming, and enjoying local gastronomy.

The journey begins with a drive from Athens to Nafplio (approximately 2 hours, 140 km). Along the way, a brief stop at the Corinth Canal is possible. Upon arrival, the itinerary continues with a visit to the Palamidi fortress, which offers sweeping views of the city and the Argolic Gulf. The rest of the day is reserved for a stroll through the Venetian old town, with its squares, narrow streets, and views of the Bourtzi fortress.

The drive through Argolis and Laconia leads to Monemvasia (approximately 3 hours, 180 km). The car is left outside the entrance, and the tour continues on foot through the stone streets of the fortified town. During the day, visitors can explore the church of Christos Elkomenos, the church of Agia Sofia, and the remains of the Upper Town. Evening is ideal for a walk along the walls and dinner with a view of the sea.
Admission is paid on-site, and the price is nominal. The museum operates seasonally and may have reduced opening hours outside the summer season — it is recommended to check in advance.

After a short drive to the port of Pounta (about 1 hour, 45 km), the ferry reaches Elafonisos in just a few minutes. The main attraction of the island is Simos beach, known for its white sand and turquoise sea. The day is dedicated to relaxation, swimming, and exploring the coastline.

The day is dedicated to relaxing on the beaches of Elafonisos. Besides the well-known Simos beach, it is worth visiting the quieter Panagia beach on the western side of the island. For an additional excursion, it is possible to arrange a boat ride or a visit to the site of Pavlopetri, one of the oldest known submerged cities in the world. The evening is ideal for dinner with fresh fish and seafood at tavernas by the harbor.
Return by ferry to the mainland and continue the journey to Gytheio through the Mani region (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, 65 km). Before entering the town, you can visit Valtaki beach with the shipwreck of the Dimitrios. In Gytheio, it is worth strolling along the harbor, visiting the island of Cranae, and enjoying the atmosphere of a former fishing village.

The drive to Mystras via Sparta takes about one hour. The day is dedicated to exploring the UNESCO site with its churches, monasteries, the Palace of the Despots, and the Kastro fortress. Stone pathways and views over the Laconia valley make Mystras one of the most significant Byzantine sites in Greece. Afterwards, a relaxed return to Athens via the A7 motorway (approximately 210 km, 2 hours and 30 minutes). If desired, a short stop can be made in Sparta or at one of the viewpoints along the way before the end of the journey.
Single ticket for the entire site. Arriving in the morning before the heat is recommended, as there is no shade on the paths. Two gates are available — the upper one (closer to the fortress) and the lower one.
